Difference between Semi Tender and Tender Assisted Rigs

 This time we will be talking about tender and semi tender rigs. They are one of the most commonly used rig types in offshore, especially in offshore. Semi tender and tender rigs are usually stationed beside the platform. For example (West Vencedor from Seadrill in Yetagun Campaign, Myanmar)

So what are the advantages of semi/tender rigs?

1) Self-raise capability. Can remove its own drilling package and then rig-up on the same package on another platform.

2)Large deck space to store the drilling equipment.

3)Could be fabricated in many yards.

4)Can be utilized as a construction barge depending on the conditions.

5)Can be used where the platform is out of reach from jackup's cantilevers.

So what are the disadvantages:

1)Cannot operate in deep water conditions.

2)Cannot withstand rough weather conditions.

3)Weight sensitive.

The difference between semi tender and tender rig is the hull design. Since semi tender is a semi submersible, it can operate in deeper water, can withstand to bad weather conditions, and has more stability compare to tender rig.

၁) self- raise လုပ်နိုင်တယ်။သူ့ရဲ့ drilling package ကို remove လုပ်ပြီးတော့ နောက် platform တစ်ခုရဲ့ package ပေါ်မှာ rig up လုပ်နိုင်တယ်။

၂) deck area တော်တော်လေးကျယ်တယ်ဆိုတော့ drilling equipment တွေ ထားရတာ အဆင်ပြေတယ်။

၃) yards တော်တော်များများမှာfabricate လုပ်နိုင်တယ်။

၄)အခြေအနေပေါ်မူတည်ပြီး construction barge အနေနဲ့လည်း သုံးလို့ရတယ်။

၅) Jackup ရဲ့ cantilevers တွေ သုံးလို့မရတဲ့ platform တွေမှာ cost effective ဖြစ်ဖြစ်သုံးလို့ရတယ်။

၁)သူက deep water မရဘူး

၂)rough weather conditions တွေ မခံနိုင်ဘူး

၃)weight sensitive ဖြစ်တယ်

Semi tender rig နဲ့ tender rig နဲ့ ဘာကွာလည်းဆိုရင် hull design ကွာတယ်၊ ပြီးရင် semi tender က semi ဖြစ်တဲ့အတွက် operation depth ပိုနက်တယ်၊ weather ဒဏ်ပိုခံနိုင်တယ်၊ အထူးသဖြင့် stable ပိုဖြစ်ပါတယ်။
